Today I was going to go and do some reading about creating javascript prototypes so I can rewrite my Ajax edit in place properly. However, some silly person also called a damn javascript toolkit prototype. It is now taking me twice as long on google trying to filter out what I actually want from the crap. This is one of the problems on the internet. So few names so many projects. Hopefully everything will get barcoded soon so we can search for the right thing.

The most important part of any site after the content is the navigation. If your site is hard to navigate no one will stay there. Your navigation should be easy to use while being desecrate. It should be easy to find without being in your face. It should be functional without being complicated. It should be beautiful and encourage me to stay.

I understand that it is unreasonable to expect designers create websites for people who don't browse full screen (sarcasm). However, if you are going to make me have to scroll in two directions please put the content I want to be reading down the left-hand side and the navigation on the right-hand side. That way both little me and big you can both read the content without having to use lots of scroll bars. These small changes can make a big difference in whether people who browse with a smaller screen resolution stay or go.

Some guys can be real jerks. I especially hate the jerks who see a small problem with the web and pick the biggest web2.0 app that has this problem and then blame them for it. Take this jerk. He saw that having javascript enable you to drag a object around can momentarily increase your CPU usage by huge chunks. He then picked a web app that uses this, meebo, and pinned all the blame on them.

Ohh and in response to the guy. Yes javascript isn't perfect. Yes there is obviously a demand for meebo (they keep getting more funding don't they?). If you don't like meebo stay away from them, no one is forcing you to use them.
