In Tiger I was a user of Desktop Manager. I loved having my 4 desktops arranged in a cube with a nice cube transition. With Leopard we now have spaces which, at first I was really excited about having. Now however, I want my old manager back. There were so many good features that it had that I no longer have access too.

My first complaint is the lack of a decent key combination to allow me to switch between my 'spaces'. I used to use the command+opt+arrow key combination as it allowed me to use one hand on my laptop while not over-riding any of the cursor movement functions. I am now forced to use ctrl+arrow key which requires two hands and just isn't very intuitive. It seems I can use my old key combination by holding it down while using the drop-down. My bad.

My second annoyance is not being able to easily move something to another 'space' without using the mouse. Before I could hit command+option+o and then pick a desktop. Now I have to use my mouse to carefully move windows to new locations. It seems to take longer and require more movement of my hands.

The third thing which is really winding me up is the fact that when I tab in to an application I get thrown in to a entirely different space. Really this is a killer for me. I used to be able to tab into iTunes (which is hidden in a different space) and control it with key combinations. Now I have to get taken away from my work to look at my music when all I want to do is skip this song. It really doesn't make for very seamless coding.

All in all I want my old Desktop Manager back. Or a 24inch iMac so I don't need more than one desktop.

Merry Christmas.

In theory stacks should be a nice idea. In practice though they are just really annoying me. Every time I look over at my dock (which by the way is hidden by default) I think I have a window minimised over there. Bloody annoying if you ask me. Maybe I will get used to it.

I don't know whether to laugh, cry or just smile. What do you think?.

I do love the clock though, its so pointless but yet so cool.
